The Strettons Railway Society is a small group of keen railway modellers, based in Church Stretton, in the heart of the Shropshire Hills.
The Society was started about ten years ago and currently has 14 members. The group meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 7pm in an upstairs room at the Silvester Horne Institute in Church Stretton. The main activity is usually practical railway model making conducted in a friendly and instructional manner with work being carried out both on the club layouts and on members’ own projects. In addition we periodically erect the smaller of our two club layouts in the meeting room so that members can run their own stock.
Society meetings provide an opportunity to join like-minded people engaging in a constructive and rewarding activity. There are also occasions when one, or both, of our layouts appear at exhibitions and members have the opportunity to run them for the benefit of the visiting public. These events bring our activities to a wider audience and provide a good opportunity to explain to them the appeal of the hobby.
The Society always welcomes railway enthusiasts of all interests, not exclusively modellers. For further information contact the secretary using the details below, or pop in and see us on a Thursday.
